Dear human mind

Oh quicksand

of molecules flashing

between cells

in our brains,

our spinal cords,

at the meeting between neuron

and muscle fiber.

Thus we perceive, think,

act

each mind a construct

that shines light

on what we do not

cannot

or will not know

for ourselves

and certainly

each other.

We are each an eyestalk

reporting what we have

let in

let rattle around

let bounce off of circumstances

we hope to survive and mold

to our own will’s

capacity

to impose

on ourselves first,

then others,

and Earth,

sweet Earth,

rough house Earth,
